“Everyone just comes up to me and asks ‘what’s happening with Breggy?” said shortstop Jeremy Peña. “I tell them ‘you probably know more than I do,’ and it’s fair to ask and I feel like Bregman is loved in this city.”

Astros General Manager Dana Brown confirmed the team has re-engaged talks with the former Astros third baseman.
“The door is cracked, I would say,” said Brown. “It’s a long shot.”
Manager Joe Espada said he was “optimistic” a deal would be able to get done, while star second baseman Jose Altuve said he would change positions to accommodate Bregman, as has been floated. Altuve said he hasn’t discussed a position change with team brass, but would be open to it.
“For Alex, I’d do whatever,” said Altuve. “I’m willing to whatever for him to stay.”
