Aggie students ask Astros brass questions at team caravan event

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Houston Astros made a caravan stop in College Station, bringing General Manager Dana Brown, Manager Joe Espada and four Astros players to speak with sports management students at Texas A&M.

One day before FanFest, as the Astros are in the middle of two potential big moves regarding potentially bringing back Alex Bregman and trading reliever Ryan Pressly, Aggie students got to ask the team brass about those moves, as well as how they got into their high-level baseball roles.

“Howdy, my name’s Wyatt...so Alex Bregman is still on the market,” one student started, which was followed by laughs to ease the tension of the general manager instantly having to respond to the team’s most pressing question at a fan event.

The asker is a Montgomery native and a 26-year old Navy veteran finishing up his degree at Texas A&M. Wyatt Watson is a sports management major, and a journalism minor and is currently working as a reporter for frontstretch.com, a motorsports website, as well as doing play-by-play for the Texas RoadRunners hockey team.

“I mean...that’s the burning question,” said Watson. “I’m getting to the deep of it. I want to know what’s going on with Bregman.” Don’t we all, Wyatt.

In typical fashion, Brown gave a non-response, and was similarly coy when KPRC 2 asked about Bregman.

“Scott (Boras) and I exchanged text messages, I would probably leave it at that.” said Brown.

Wyatt, fresh off interacting with team brass, says he believes the Astros will have success.

“I stay hopeful about what’s going to come up, I trust what Dana Brown and Astros management is doing.”
