HOUSTON – The Texans signed offensive guard Jerome Carvin and wide receiver Kearis Jackson to reserve-future contracts.
The Texans previously worked out Carvin, a former Chicago Bears, New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs center-guard.

Carvin (6-foot-3, 308 pounds) played left guard and center for the Bears in the preseason and had a 72.0 overall Pro Football Focus analytics grade.
He played left guard, center and right guard and played the most offensive line snaps.
In college at the University of Tennessee, he allowed just three sacks in five seasons in the Southeastern Conference.
He started every game his last two seasons, including at left guard, center and right guard before playing his final season exclusively at left guard.
He originally signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent last year. He was waived by the Bears in August after spending his rookie year on their practice squad. He was then signed to the Patriots practice squad.
Jackson played collegiately at Georgia.
A former third-team All-Southeastern Conference selection, Jackson helped lead the Bulldogs to a national championship with a win over Alabama.
Jackson (5-foot-11, 196) has run the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds.
He was signed by the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent and made the 53-man roster as the primary punt returner before injuring his ankle and being placed on injured reserve.
He was with the New York Giants practice squad last season.
