HOUSTON – Hello to all of you in Texans Nation! This is KPRC 2′s Sports Director Randy McIlvoy checking in with this week’s Texans Newsletter as the guys get ready to face the Cowboys Monday night.

I think at this point everybody is ready to turn the page and move on to Dallas but that loss to Detroit still stings doesn’t it? It’s really hard to win in the NFL and when you let one get away like the Texans did on Sunday night with a massive local and national audience watching that makes it even worse.

What you need to know: Five keys to 6-4 Texans’ 26-23 Sunday night loss to Detroit Lions

Texans led the Lions 23-7 at halftime and then the second half was a completely different story. Outscored 19-0 in the second half by the Lions and the night ended with a 26-23 loss after Tomball native Jake Bates’ 52 yard game winner just went through inside the left upright.

Game over just like that.

Good news? Yes there is some coming out of that loss. Houston still sits 6-4 and are in control of the AFC South. Barring a meltdown in these next seven weeks they should easily win the division and punch their ticket to the playoffs.

In case you missed it: ‘It’s going to help everybody,’ how star wide receiver Nico Collins’ return against Cowboys boosts Texans’ offense

Tuesday, Head Coach DeMeco Ryans met with the media. Here’s Ryans on the offensive side as a whole needing to step up around C.J. Stroud.

Here’s DeMeco on the game turned in by WR John Metchie III Sunday vs. the Lions.

The Texans are off on Wednesday and return to practice on Thursday and again on Friday. Saturday will be there final walkthrough and then they will jet out to DFW on Sunday ahead of Monday’s game against the 3-6 Cowboys. WR Nico Collins will return to practice on Thursday after missing the last five games.

While fans are concerned the next few weeks look like wins to me. They’ve got Dallas, then Tennessee and Jacksonville will follow. Win all three and the Texans will be sitting 9-4.
