HOUSTON – Hunter Brown came up through the Astros system as one of the team’s most highly touted pitching prospects.

Brown helped the team win a World Series in 2022 out of the bullpen, then transitioned into the expected starter role. But in 2023, and for the first month of 2024, Brown’s success was far more inconsistent than anyone expected.
Brown pitched to a 5.09 ERA in 2023 with a rough second half. Brown’s April 2024 was atrocious, with a 9.78 ERA, then on May 5th, he decided to bring back the 2-seam fastball/sinker he threw in college. Since then, Brown has pitched to a 2.51 ERA and has been among the best pitchers in all of baseball.
Recently, Brown joined me to detail the secrets of the sinker - why he brought it back, how he throws it, and why it works!
