HOUSTON – Early voting in Harris County begins Monday, Oct. 20, and runs through Friday, Oct. 31, giving residents nearly two weeks to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day on Nov. 4.
The Harris County Clerk’s Office is encouraging voters to take advantage of the early voting period to help avoid long lines and make their voices heard on key local and state issues.

“This election provides Harris County voters an opportunity to shape the future of their communities and impact leadership at both the local and state levels,” Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth said in a statement.
What’s on the ballot
Voters will decide on 17 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution, the race for the 18th Congressional District, Houston City Council At-Large Position 4, and other local contests, including city, school district, utility district, and college trustee elections.
When and where to vote
During early voting, 70 vote centers will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., except on Sunday, Oct. 26, when hours will be noon to 7 p.m.
On Election Day, nearly 600 vote centers across Harris County will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

What to bring
Voters must present one of the following photo IDs:
- Texas Driver’s License
- Texas Personal ID
- Texas Handgun License
- Texas Election ID Certificate
- U.S. Military ID (with photo)
- U.S. Citizenship Certificate (with photo)
- U.S. Passport
Those without an acceptable ID may complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and present a supporting document such as a utility bill, bank statement, or voter registration certificate.
Voting by mail
Applications to vote by mail are due by Friday, Oct. 24.Eligible voters include those 65 and older, individuals with disabilities, people who will be outside their county during the voting period, those expecting to give birth within three weeks of Election Day, and eligible voters in jail.
