A driver has been arrested after a roadway shooting left one woman injured Saturday near FM-529 and Glen Chase in northwest Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said three people were traveling in a red Ford F-150 eastbound on FM-529 at 8:02 a.m. when another male driver allegedly began driving aggressively and cut them off. After the driver of the F-150 honked at him, he crossed in front of them and reportedly slammed on his brakes and both vehicles came to a stop.
The aggressive driver, identified as Franklin Sael Alvarado, 33, reportedly got out of his vehicle, pulled out a shotgun from the trunk of his vehicle, and fired toward the back of the F-150 as it tried to drive away.
Fragments of a projectile struck the back of a female passenger’s head, deputies said.
The 41-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in fair condition with a non-life-threatening wound.
Alvarado fled the scene but was arrested a short distance away after pushing his stalled vehicle after the road rage incident, investigators said.
He has been charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of third-degree deadly conduct.
No weapon was recovered but evidence was collected from the suspect’s vehicle.
Alvarado told deputies that his vehicle did not cut them off because he was stalled on the road due to car issues.
He was booked into the Harris County Jail.
