SUGAR LAND, Texas – What was first reported as a road rage incident in Sugar Land has led to multiple shootings across Houston, leaving four people dead.
There were three separate shootings, one in Sugar Land and two in southwest Houston, that have all been connected.
Sugar Land deadly shooting
In the first incident, a 47-year-old woman was killed in her car in a shooting shortly before 1 p.m. in the 12900 block of Dairy Ashford Road, near US 90 in Sugar Land, according to the Sugar Land Police Department.
Police said the woman was found inside her vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Police worked on her until EMS arrived to take her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The gunman fled the scene.
KPRC 2’s Corley Peel learned that the shooter, identified as a 42-year-old man, was in a relationship with the woman who was shot.
2nd deadly shooting in SW Houston
At 1:45 p.m., the Houston Police Department said the suspect pulled up to the mechanic shop in the 13000 block of Fondren Road and got into some kind of argument.
At one point, police said a witness outside began recording him on a cell phone. That’s when the suspect opened fire, killing the two men.
Surveillance footage captured near the scene showed the shooter get out of his car and chase one of the men before killing him. The gunman then fled.
One of the men was the owner of the mechanic shop, known for helping anyone who pulled in with a problem. His shop was surrounded by police tape as his family and friends gathered, heartbroken and waiting for answers.
3rd deadly shooting in SW Houston
At 2 p.m., Houston police responded to another shooting in the 8000 block of Creekbend Drive, approximately 2.9 miles away from the Fondren shooting.
At this scene, the gunman turned the gun on himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are working to determine the circumstances of each of the shooting events that led to the violence.
The roadways where the shootings took place were closed down while the investigation took place.
The identities of the gunman and the three victims have not been disclosed at this time.
