According to the Houston Police Department, Eastside patrol units attempted to stop an older, red Dodge Ram around 2 a.m. in the 3700 block of Elgin Street in the Third Ward, not far from the University of Houston. The driver refused to pull over, officials said, and a pursuit began.
Investigators said the chase reached speeds of nearly 90 mph as the suspects weaved through several major streets, including SSGT Macario Garcia Drive, Telephone Road, South Wayside, and the Gulf Freeway feeder.
At one point, the driver reportedly turned the wrong way on Scott Street, crossing Metro lanes before hitting a stop sign at the intersection of Scott and Hadley.

HPD’s Northeast and Eastside patrol officers, along with K-9 units and the department’s helicopter, worked together to track the suspects and eventually perform a PIT maneuver on Elgin Street.
Officers arrested a man and a woman at the scene without further incident. A loaded firearm was found inside the truck, which authorities later confirmed was stolen.
No injuries were reported. The suspects’ names and charges have not yet been released, but the investigation remains underway.
