TxDOT closes US 90A eastbound main lanes; traffic shifted to westbound

The Texas Department of Transportation says crews will begin reconstructing U.S. 90A eastbound by closing the eastbound main lanes and shifting traffic onto the westbound main lanes at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3.

The closures will remain in effect until further notice.

U.S. 90A eastbound main lanes from Lozier Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed while traffic uses the westbound main lanes, TxDOT said.

U.S. 90A westbound from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Del Rio Street will have two left main lanes closed beginning 7 p.m. Oct. 3; one lane will be open in each direction, the agency said. The eastbound frontage road at Griggs Road will also be closed.

Detour: Motorists should continue west on U.S. 90A, turn right onto Cullen Boulevard and follow Cullen to Griggs Road.

Drivers should expect delays and are urged to follow posted detour signs, consider alternate routes and exercise patience and caution to ensure safety during construction, TxDOT said.
