Bomb threats prompts evacuation at Prairie View University and Lone Star College University Park

A bomb threat prompted evacuations at two Houston-area campuses Tuesday morning.

Both Lone Star College–University Park and Prairie View University libraries received threats.

PVU evacuation

Prairie View University Prairie View University temporarily evacuated the John B. Coleman Library after receiving the reported bomb threat. After a thorough assessment by multiple agencies, authorities deemed the threat non‑credible.

However, to ensure the continued safety of the community, PVU canceled all classes and on‑campus activities beginning at 1 p.m.; cancellations will remain in effect for the rest of the day. Campus personnel will transition to remote work, while essential staff will remain on campus as the investigation continues.

LSC - University Park evacuation

Lone Star College–University Park Lone Star College police alerted students and staff to evacuate Buildings 12 and 13 immediately, stressing that the order was not a drill.

The LSC Police Department said it received an email threatening an explosive device at the LSC–University Park Library. Harris County Sheriff’s Office K-9 units and LSC police searched the library.

The Harris County Bomb Squad cleared the library after finding no device.

Officers then cleared the remainder of the space and issued an all‑clear as a precaution.
