Family rescued after fiery crash traps them inside car in north Harris County

HOUSTON – A mother and her two children were hospitalized Thursday night following a fiery crash in north Harris County.

The crash happened just before 9 p.m. near W. Mount Houston at Cordoba. Northwest Fire Department, Harris County Precinct 1 deputies, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office all responded.

Crews with the Northwest Fire Department and deputies with Harris County Precinct 1, the Sheriff’s Office, arrived to find a white sedan on fire. Fortunately, everyone inside that vehicle was able to get out unharmed.

In the second vehicle, authorities said two adults were trapped. Firefighters said they were able to free both within about 10 minutes. Both were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Two children, who were also in the car, were unharmed, but were taken along with their mother to remain with her.

All inbound lanes in the area were closed as Precinct 1 deputies investigated.

No word was given on who caused the crash or any charges, as of this writing.
