HOUSTON – A man is in handcuffs Thursday morning after a series of overnight crashes that started as a hit-and-run near downtown Houston, where he seriously injured a woman.
It started around 3 a.m. when the Houston Police Department said firefighters were called to Nagle and Dennis Streets.
That’s where they found an unidentified woman lying in the roadway with severe head injuries. Paramedics rushed her to a nearby trauma center, but her condition is unknown.
While first responders were working that scene, another crash was reported just six blocks away. Investigators say a 2022 Mercedes slammed through the grounds of a school in Delano, tearing down a fence before becoming disabled.
HPD noted the driver ran from the wreck but was found shortly after on Isabella Street and taken into custody.
Preliminary evidence suggests the driver and the injured woman may have been at a club together before the hit-and-run crash.
