SPRING, Texas – Authorities say two women were found dead inside an apartment in Spring after the leasing office called law enforcement concerned after seeing a large number of flies in the area.
The Harris County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office said it happened at the Windsong Village Apartments in the 2900 block of Hirschfield Road.
Officials say deputies received a check welfare call from the leasing office after they noticed a foul odor and saw a large number of flies inside an apartment unit.
It was originally reported concerned neighbors made the call to law enforcement, but authorities clarified on the scene that the leasing office called them out.
When deputies entered the apartment, they found the two women dead inside.
Cpt. Buddy Gheen with the Harris County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office said the two women were both in beds in opposite rooms from each other. Deputies didn’t see any signs of foul play or forced entry as of this time.
Due to the odor and flies, authorities believe the two women, who are approximately 70-years-old and 50-years-old, had been dead inside the apartment for a while.
“Its kind of a mystery as to how we got here,” Gheen said, describing the mysterious nature of the deaths.
Homicide detectives are on the way to continue the investigation.
