HOUSTON – Officials have said one of the six people shot outside a bar in Liberty County early Sunday morning has succumbed to their injuries, adding a second person to the death toll.
INITIAL REPORT: Gunman on the run after 1 killed, 5 injured in shooting outside Liberty County bar
It happened around 2:30 a.m. at the Alas Locos Bar on County Road 5018 when the shooter, later identified as Jose Osman Aguilar Cantillano, 32, for unknown reasons, opened fire outside the bar.
Investigators said the 32-year-old lives near the bar and was seen drinking beer at least 30 minutes before the shooting.
Two people were killed: Alexis Jasso, 30, and Fransico Navarrete, 43, who was initially rushed to a hospital via helicopter but died from his injuries on Monday.
All the other individuals hurt in the shooting have since been released from the hospital, officials confirmed.
Cantillano, however, remains on the run. On Monday, investigators got a search warrant for his home and arrested his wife, Alejandra Marie Valdez Montoya, on evidence tampering charges.
The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office believes Cantillano may be heading toward the New Orleans, Louisiana, or Atlanta, Georgia area in his white full-size van and is asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call them at 936-336-4500, their local law enforcement, or Crime Stoppers at 800-392-7867.
Officials do not have the license plate information of his vehicle at this time.
