HOUSTON – It looks like there will be double the celebration for twin sisters who gave birth to baby boys on the same day at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Rachel Schmidtberger and Lindsey Denny said they have always done everything together — from undergrad and medical school at the University of Texas to becoming dermatologists at the same practice — and now, delivering their babies on the same day.

The sisters gave birth nearly 12 hours apart, welcoming their sons on Aug. 26 at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.
The unplanned coincidence came after Lindsey, who struggled with fertility issues, said she learned around Christmas that she had conceived after “giving up.” The family’s joy grew even greater when they learned Rachel was also pregnant — and due the same day.
At first, Rachel and Lindsey were shocked. But they quickly embraced it as another “twin connection,” with help from their shared OB/GYN.
Dr. Sharon Vila-Wright, who adjusted her schedule to deliver both babies, said she was thrilled to be part of the moment.
In addition to sharing a birthday, the boys are also genetically half-siblings. Their moms have nicknamed them “brother cousins.”
Rachel and her husband, Michael, welcomed Owen Michael Hamilton, while Lindsey and her husband, Jared, welcomed Hayes Michael Denny.
