HOUSTON – One of two Harris County deputies arrested on DWI charges over the weekend was allegedly driving 130 mph in uniform. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has also launched an investigation into the Katy bar where he was reportedly drinking.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Dung Hoang was arrested Sunday on a misdemeanor DWI charge after being stopped by fellow deputies. He has posted bond and is due back in court on Aug. 29.
A law enforcement source told KPRC 2 that Hoang was driving over 130 miles per hour at the time of his arrest and was still in full uniform. He allegedly admitted to consuming four drinks while working an extra security job at Mo’s Place in Katy.
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission confirmed to KPRC 2 on Tuesday morning that it has opened an investigation involving Mo’s Place. The agency will determine whether the bar violated any state laws, such as serving alcohol to a person who appeared intoxicated, which is routine in cases like this.
HCSO also confirmed that Ariana Isis Martinez, a newly hired lateral deputy assigned to basic training at the academy, was arrested Sunday by the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office on a misdemeanor DWI charge. She has also posted bond and is due in court on Aug. 29. Both of the deputies have been relieved of duties.
