Texas Children’s Hospital faces water issues, adapts with bottled water

HOUSTON – We have some tips on how the Texas Children’s Hospital is operating without running water.

One family member of a NICU baby tells us they’ve brought in tons of bottled water and portable hand washing stations.

They tell KPRC 2 the NICU babies have their own chambers with sanitary bottled water, but they’re worried about the strain this may have on staff.

So we asked Texas Children’s directly about this, and a spokesperson tells us the reason this is happening is that the city is working on the water line on Main Street, and two of the towers are experiencing water issues.

A spokesperson for Texas Children’s shared the following statement:

“Out of an abundance of caution, we have put measures in place until we fully restore the water to pre-construction condition, including providing bottled drinking water and supplying backup water resources in targeted locations. Our facilities team is working diligently to resolve all issues and ensure as little disruption as possible for our patients and team.”
