It happened around 2:30 a.m. when the Houston Police Department first got alerted that a driver was going the opposite direction on Gulf Freeway in the northbound lanes. Law enforcement helicopters were over the scene at Scott Street near the University of Houston.

That’s where investigators said they found a van belonging to a mobile auto glass provider on its side and a Nissan sedan smashed into the median.

Officers on the freeway and the Houston Fire Department arrived shortly afterward. The Nissan driver was suspected of DWI and taken into custody, while the van driver declined medical treatment.

Despite how severe the crash looked, no injuries were reported. The roadway was closed while a field sobriety test was conducted (the results were not disclosed, as of this writing), but has since been reopened.
