Man charged after reportedly making bomb threat at Deerbrook Mall, prompting evacuation

HUMBLE, Texas – A man has been charged after shoppers were forced to leave Deerbrook Mall after a reported bomb threat Sunday afternoon.

Paul Gonzalez, 18, has been charged with terroristic threat. According to court records, Gonzalez was arrested Monday morning.

Records detailed the incident, stating Gonzalez walked into the mall wearing a backpack with three other men.

When they walked into a Barnes & Noble bookstore inside the mall around 4 p.m., he reportedly told an employee “I have a bomb” with a serious face.

That employee reported the incident to her manager and mall security was alerted.

Officials said they were able to clear the mall, and K9 units as Humble PD investigated.

Gonzalez was identified through surveillance video.
