HOUSTON – It’s summertime in Houston, and the only thing hotter than the sun is our food scene.
When I think of summer here, I picture blistering heat, but also breezy patios and rooftop happy hours.

Luckily for us Houstonians, we’re spoiled with some of the best spots to grab a drink after work or enjoy dinner with family, friends, or your significant other.
If you’re a sushi lover, you’ll want to check out Uchi Houston.
The acclaimed restaurant just unveiled a new full bar featuring seven signature cocktails.
Previously limited to wine, beer, and sake, Uchi invited me to sample the new drinks, and let me tell you, they’re a perfect match for their top-tier sushi. A definite must-try this summer.
- Lychee Martini - a $16 cocktail that includes Wheatley vodka, nigori sake, lychee and yuzu.
- Nikko Martini - a $21, which is a Japanese spin on the traditional martini with Fords gin, 12-year-aged sake, Lillet Blanc, and umami bitters
- The bittersweet Kenja Old Fashioned - the $18 cocktail which features Toki whisky, Montenegro, Punt e Mes, and bitters
- The spicy-sweet Apricot Boulevardier - a $16 cocktail made with Wild Turkey rye, Carpano Antica, Campari, and apricot.
- The light and refreshing Hachi no Hiza - a $16 cocktail that includes Ford’s gin, rosemary, and yuzu honey
- The smoky-floral Subarashi - a $17 cocktail, which is a blend of Mi Campo Reposado, Montelobos Joven, and hibiscus-lime agave
- Uchi’s own Espresso Martini - (my personal favorite), a $17 cocktail with Tito’s vodka, Punt e Mes, and espresso.
I’d heard the rumors, Uchi has some of the best sushi in Houston. And after trying it myself, I have to agree. Now, with the addition of a full bar and signature cocktails, it’s officially the perfect spot for happy hour or dinner.
