A utility crew that was working in the area discovered the remains of the fetus eight feet underground.
HFD officials confirmed that the fetus was early in the development phase, somewhere between 10 and 16 weeks old. They also said the umbilical cord appeared to still be attached.
Rescue crews recovered and removed the remains from the location. HPD has confirmed that an investigation is underway.
KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry was also at the scene. He learned that the crew is from DL Glover, Inc. and is under a maintenance contract with the City of Houston.
A project manager with the company said that the crew was rehabbing sewer lines when one of the workers found the fetus and called 911.
This is a developing report. We’ll have more updates shortly.
