On May 29, 2024, the boy was hit and killed by a vehicle while running across the northbound lanes of the West Sam Houston Parkway South, court records state.

While investigating the crash, detectives were notified by Houston police that they were working a runaway call involving a 9-year-old boy who matched the victim’s description.

Records show the child’s home was just a quarter of a mile from the crash scene.

After his death, investigators learned there had been 27 previous incidents in which police were called about the child running away. CPS had reportedly provided the mother with a door alarm to help secure the home, but the alarm was not in use on the day he died.
