1 dead, another injured in shooting over loose dog in southwest Houston neighborhood

HOUSTON – An investigation is underway after a shooting left one person dead and another injured Sunday night in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The shooting was reported at 8:37 p.m. in the 15800 block of Beechaven Street.

Police said a man was riding on a bicycle through the neighborhood when an unknown dog approached him and started to mess with him on his bike. The man reportedly told four people who were standing outside in a driveway to control their dog.

It was learned that the group did not own the dog.

The man on the bicycle reportedly left and then returned with a gun and gunfire was exchanged between him and the group.

Police said the man was on the bicycle was struck several times and pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the four individuals was hit in the leg. He was transported by ambulance and is in stable condition.

It is unknown at this time if charges will be filed.
