Texas TikTok creator accused of Galleria mall parking garage murder claims self-defense

HOUSTON – New court records obtained by KPRC 2 reveal new details of a deadly confrontation involving popular internet content creators inside the Galleria mall’s orange parking garage in early June, resulting in the death of 30-year-old Marine veteran Anthony Sanders.

Two people have been arrested and charged with murder, including 22-year-old Justin Joshua Guzman, also known as @guzmanhimself on social media platforms, and 23-year-old Marko Cinan.

OUR FIRST REPORT: Suspect arrested in deadly Galleria-area parking garage shooting

Sanders had been at the Galleria to pick up his fiancée on June 3 with their child, according to records, and as she was riding the elevator, she came across a group of three men, including Guzman and Cinan. One of them asked her a question but she ignored the question, when he proceeded to allegedly call her a “stupid ugly b----.”

When she got to the car with Sanders and told him about what happened, she told investigators he drove around the parking garage to find the group of men and then had a verbal exchange.

As they left the garage, following behind the suspects, the suspects allegedly brake-checked them. Sanders then got out of the car, followed by more arguing, and then gunfire, according to records.

The suspects took off in a black Chrysler 300, but Houston police quickly made a traffic stop near the scene and interviewed the driver, who has not been charged.

Investigators said two fired shell casings fell out of Guzman’s lap when he got out of the car. Forensic investigators found a total of 14 fired shell casings inside the vehicle.

The driver of the car, who does behind-the-scenes work for the social media content, told police they were at the Galleria that day working on content including for TikTok, Twitch, and Kick. The driver believed that Sanders was trying to fight them because he thought they were trying to “holler” at the fiancée in the elevator.

More than two weeks after the shooting, Guzman and his attorney met with HPD homicide investigators for an interview when Guzman claimed that Sanders appeared to have a gun in his waistband when he approached their vehicle as they left the parking garage. Guzman also claimed Sanders had a knife, which a witness also told KPRC 2 they thought they saw.

Guzman allegedly told investigators that Sanders pulled the gun out of his waistband, which is when Guzman shot him multiple times, but he didn’t think to flag down any officers working extra duty near the shooting.

Investigators found that no knives or firearms were found “in the vicinity of, or within, [Sanders’] vehicle, or in the area of the parking garage where the shooting took place,” according to records.

Police also discovered captions on Guzman’s social media pages that said things like, “ain’t it crazy that we’re the faces of Texas like basically whatever we say goes around here” and “don’t be in public [with] your girl [because] she’ll leave you for us we’re superstars.”

Guzman’s bond is set at $450,000, according to records, but his attorney is fighting to have it reduced to $50,000, citing his cooperation with law enforcement.

“Immediately after the self-defense shooting in the Galleria parking lot on June 3, 2025, the Defendant left the scene in fear for his life but was quickly in custody within a block of the Galleria parking lot without incident,” Kaplan wrote in a court filing.

A hearing related to Guzman’s bond has been scheduled for next week, while Cinan’s bond remains set at $1 million, according to records.
