Accidental shooting kills 12-year-old boy in southeast Houston home

HOUSTON – A 12-year-old was killed after an accidental shooting incident with his sibling at a home near southeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The shooting was reported in the 11100 block of Sageheather Drive at about 4:55 p.m. on Sunday, July 13.

Police said they found the 12-year-old unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

Investigators learned that the boy and his sibling were playing inside the residence when a firearm was found. The firearm reportedly discharged, striking the child.
