From Boots to Bracelets: Facebook page helps grieving families recover children’s treasures after Texas floods

HOUSTON – A public Facebook page is looking to comfort those who lost their loved ones in last week’s devastating flash floods.

The page, “FOUND on the Guadalupe River,” is a place where people can post pictures of items that have been found along the river, in addition to items that are being looked for.

With more than 15,000 followers and growing daily, the page includes pictures of items, including found Bible covers, stuffed animals, blankets, children’s jewelry, and clothing.

We have also seen pleas from mothers and other family members looking to find items belonging to the children they’ve lost. A family friend posted about a pair of boots one of the young victims had taken to camp with her.

While it is heartbreaking to look at, the images are meant, in part, to bring home precious items to grieving families.

As one follower wrote, “Thank you all for what you’re doing. An item from a lost loved one can bring some peace to their loved ones. God bless everyone out doing their part.”

The admin of the page says If you’ve found something—or are missing something, please feel free to share here: (20) FOUND on the Guadalupe River | Facebook.

They say they will handle this page with the reverence it deserves and hopefully unite owners and loved ones with their belongings, adding, “Please continue praying for our beloved Hill Country.”
