Governor Greg Abbott has declared Sunday, July 6, 2025, as a Day of Prayer in Texas following the severe flooding that struck Central Texas and the Hill Country over the Fourth of July weekend.

“Texans are known for their faith, strength, and resilience,” said Governor Abbott.

“Even as floodwaters surged, neighbors came together to rescue, comfort, and offer hope. In moments of loss, we turn to God for comfort, healing, and strength. I invite all Texans to join me in prayer this Sunday—for those who lost their lives, for the missing, for the recovery of our communities, and for the safety of our frontline responders.”

In part, the proclamation says:

“Throughout our history, Texans have been strengthened, assured, and lifted up through prayer.”

Governor Abbott encourages all Texans to take time for reflection and prayer on Sunday, July 6, seeking God’s wisdom, peace, and mercy during this difficult time for many families across Texas.
