It happened around 12:30 a.m. on Wilcrest just north of Bexley Drive near Beechnut and Beltway 8. Responding officers with the Houston Police Department said they found a Honda smashed into a tree, completely covered in flames, with two people dead inside.
It’s unclear exactly what led up to the crash, but preliminary evidence from HPD is that the driver was going north on Wilcrest when, for unspecified reasons, left the roadway before crashing into a tree in the median. Their identities have not been released.
HPD Sgt. Griffiths said a second vehicle with two other occupants also ended up hitting the Honda after it crashed into the tree, but they were not hurt.
