It happened just before 12:30 p.m. in northeast Houston, where investigators said two officers in a patrol car were going southbound on North Wayside Drive.

That’s when a truck was leaving a stop sign from Joy Street and pulled out in front of the patrol car, causing both vehicles to collide. The patrol car’s impact caused it to end up on the sidewalk, while the truck stopped in the southbound lanes.

Officials said the two officers were taken to a hospital for minor injuries, and so was the truck driver.

It’s unclear what caused the crash, but investigators are looking into whether alcohol played a role due to several beer cans being thrown from the truck and onto the street.
