It happened around 11 p.m. when the Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division said an unidentified woman, possibly unhoused, was crossing onto the ramp of the Eastex Freeway going southbound just before Hopper Road.
An unidentified driver in a Toyota truck was heading southbound on the feeder, but was entering the ramp and hit the woman. Responding officers said she died at the scene.
The driver, meanwhile, stayed at the scene, showed no signs of intoxication, and fully cooperated with investigators, despite Sgt. B. Bondurant, noting she was “visibly shaken up” and taken to a hospital as a precaution.
