Teen DWI driver arrested in connection with multi-vehicle crash that claimed baby’s life in Alief

HOUSTON – Houston Police have a 19-year-old in custody for his role in a crash Wednesday evening that killed a baby in Alief.

Authorities say the crash involved three vehicles and happened on Cook Road, between Bellaire and Beechnut.

Police say the infant was less than a year old and at the scene, said they were looking into whether the infant’s car seat was properly secured.

Court records show Isiah Martinez, 19, was arrested on charges including failure to stop and render aid (involving death) and driving while intoxicated.

It’s unclear exactly what role he played in the crash, and no additional arrests or injuries have been shared, as of this writing.
