The Baytown Fire Department said they responded to a fire in a wooded area around 7:40 a.m. Thursday morning in the 2400 block of Causeway Road.

When firefighters arrived, they found an active tank fire at Trek Resources, Inc.

Because there were no fire hydrants in the area, firefighters requested additional water support. Multiple departments provided mutual aid. Foam trucks were also requested from Harris County Hazmat and ExxonMobil to assist with suppression efforts.

Crews were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other nearby tanks.

A shelter-in-place order was issued for the Evergreen Fairways and Trinity Oak subdivisions.

The fire department says the fire is now fully suppressed and no air quality readings showed no hazards. The shelter-in-place order has been lifted.

“We thank our mutual aid partners and agency support teams for their response and coordination. No injuries were reported. The cause of the incident remains under investigation by the Baytown Fire Marshal’s Office,” the Baytown Fire Department said.
