HOUSTON – A woman has died a day after being involved in a major two-vehicle crash in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The woman has been identified as Reem Musallam, 37.
The violent crash also that left multiple people injured and 300 customers without power for hours when a powerline was hit during impact on a road

The crash was reported at 2:10 p.m. in the 9300 block of Fondren Road.
Police arrived to the scene and saw one truck flipped over, a car split in half and a downed powerline.
A couple, a man and Musallam, were inside a white Honda Accord and a man was driving White Ford F20, according to HPD.
Everyone was transported to a hospital and Musallam was in critical condition and went under for surgery. She died the next day at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.
The male drivers of both vehicles are in stable condition.
Police believe the vehicles were possibly racing, both going south on Fondren. The Honda switched lanes, into the path of the Ford, and the Ford struck the Honda. Both vehicles left the roadway, striking street signs, poles and trees before coming to a stop.
They estimated the vehicles were going at least 70 mph, possibly faster when the crash occurred.
Nearly 300 customers had no power due to the crash.
CenterPoint sent the following response about the incident:
“Our hearts go out to all who are affected by this incident. CenterPoint Energy crews are onsite collaborating with first responders and law enforcement to secure the area and restore service to the 292 remaining impacted customers safely and as quickly as possible.”
