A multi-vehicle wreck involving an HPD officer, an 18-wheeler, and another vehicle shut down the US 290 frontage road near Hollister Friday morning and is still causing major traffic delays.
The incident happened around 5:10 a.m. on the feeder road. Officials said an officer was conducting a traffic stop when a crash occurred involving a black car and an 18-wheeler.
Police said at least two, possibly three people were transported to the hospital, including the officer. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
It’s unclear if the occupants of the black car were among those transported.
Several lanes along the US 290 feeder, including the left and right shoulders and three frontage road lanes, were closed as crews worked the scene.
Drivers in the area should expect delays and seek alternate routes.
