The lawsuit was filed by prominent Houston attorney Tony Buzbee.

After going through the documents, the lawsuit alleges that Granger told the woman he could “help her with her career” if she complied with his requests.

The lawsuit alleges that the assault happened on April 30th. The documents state the athletic director is accused of inviting the female staff member into his office, where he asked if she was ‘recording him’ or ‘wearing a wire’ while he patted her down inappropriately.

The lawsuit further alleges that Granger asked the woman about her relationship history, if she’s ever been romantically involved with a colleague.

According to the suit, Granger’s questions became increasingly graphic and vulgar. The lawsuit alleges Granger propositioned the woman for sex, groped her, and said if she complied, he could “help her career.”

A statement from Letitia Quinones-Hollins, attorney for Dr. Kevin Granger was released:

“These are serious allegations, and they deserve a serious response, which we will make at the appropriate time and in court. In the meantime, I can tell you that no sexual assault occurred and any indication that it did, is false.

“Dr. Granger is an incredibly well-respected part of the TSU community and his work there, over many years, has created opportunities for the school and its students that did not exist before.”

KPRC 2 reached out to Texas Southern University for a comment, and while they won’t comment on pending litigation, they shared a letter with students saying in part:

“Please be assured that Texas Southern University takes all allegations of misconduct seriously. In alignment with out policies and values, we have initiated an independent investigation to ensure a fair and thorough review of the matter. The executive in question has been placed on administrative leave.

“The safety and well-being of all members of our community, students, student-athletes, faculty, and staff, remain our highest priority. Due to the sensitive nature of this matter and to preserve the integrity of the investigation process, the University will not offer any further comments at this time.”

The lawsuit goes on to say that reports have been filed with the Houston Police Department and the Human Resources Department at TSU.
