Background Information?
Petrov was last seen leaving her school in South Jordan, Utah, on April 21. Police said the teen was attempting to meet individuals she met online through multiple social media platforms and chat applications.
According to the South Jordan Police Department, Petrov left her school and went to a convenience store where she bought some items before boarding a southbound train to Provo, where she asked “multiple people” for help getting to Las Vegas.
Her parents said that’s the last place she’s known to have been.
“It was a nightmare. We have no contact with Alisa, which is very upsetting. She’s not using her social media that she was really attached to, and that’s a big concern for us,” her mother, Olga Petrov, said, noting that her daughter used several apps.
Last summer, the couple said they had a talk with their daughter about removing strangers with whom she had been communicating on various social media apps.
Weeks after being reported missing, multiple charges were filed after authorities identified two men they believe could be linked to the disappearance of Petrov.
The first suspect was identified on May 10 as 37-year-old William Taylor Glines of Texas City. The second man has been identified as 35-year-old Matthew Nicholas Menard of Miami.
Both have been charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor and criminal solicitation.
Glines faces an additional charge of attempted aggravated exploitation of a minor.
Investigators believe that both Menard and Glines were in communication with Petrov.
The story sparked interest in the Houston area when Texas City Police briefly joined the search with South Jordan PD after receiving a cyber tip.

A Texas City PD source later informed KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry that officials found no evidence indicating that Petrov was ever in the Texas City area.
