Two people operating the train, officials said, were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It’s unclear what caused the crash, but FBCSO investigators confirmed the area is dimly lit and there are no stop signs or barriers at the intersection.

“FBCSO Investigators can confirm Nelson Lane is a dirt road and while the railroad crossing is marked, there are no lights, stop signs, or barriers at the intersection,” a spokesperson said in a written statement. “At this time, Nelson Lane at the railroad remains closed.”
