One person is dead and another was hospitalized after a double shooting Thursday afternoon at an apartment complex in Hitchcock.

Police responded to the Independent Missionary Village Apartments at 6607 Prino Road around 3:20 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
Officers arrived to find two people with gunshot wounds and immediately began CPR. One victim died at the scene. The other was taken to a nearby hospital in unknown condition.
Authorities said two suspects ran from the scene. As of 4:55 p.m., no arrests had been made, and police did not release a detailed description of the suspects.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Hitchcock police, Hitchcock ISD officers, Bayou Vista police, Galveston County Sheriff’s deputies, and a Texas City Police K-9 unit.
The shooting drew a large crowd of residents, many of whom expressed frustration with what they described as a delayed police and medical response.
