Son accused of killing mom on Mother’s Day, stabbing father in northwest Houston

Mother’s Day turned deadly at a northwest Houston home where police say a man attacked his parents with a knife, killing his mother and injuring his father.

Bao Hoang Dinh is charged with murder and aggravated assault of a family member after investigators said he stabbed his parents early Sunday morning at their home on North Fallen Bough Drive near Gessner.

According to court records, Dinh is accused of stabbing his mother, 66-year-old Hat Nguyen, multiple times. Authorities said he also attacked his father, who survived and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Houston police said officers arrived to find Dinh armed with a large knife in an altercation with his parents in the front yard. Officers were able to take him into custody without incident.

Court records show Dinh remains in the Harris County Jail with a $1,000,000 bond for the murder charge and $500,000 for the aggravated assault charge. His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, May 13.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
