HOUSTON – Dozens of Xfinity customers in the Greater Houston area are reporting multiple outages due to what its parent company, Comcast, described as telecommunication line vandalism.

The details behind the vandalism are unclear, but Comcast confirmed they are actively working with law enforcement to address the issue.
“We have determined the major cause of this widespread outage was several back-to-back acts of suspected vandalism to our telecommunication lines. We are working closely with law enforcement as they investigate these incidents.”

Comcast has since confirmed that a majority of the outages have been restored.

The radar for the National Weather Service - Houston’s office was also impacted by the outage, which could not come at a more inconvenient time, as Houston expects heavy rain and increased severe weather threats.
