2 people shot after gunman opens fire on car in Midtown, victims crash into home

Two people were hospitalized after a gunman fired into a vehicle in Midtown overnight, sending the victims crashing into a nearby house as they tried to escape.

Officers and firefighters responded to the 1300 block of Gilette Street around 12:20 a.m. after reports of a shooting. Police arrived to find a vehicle carrying four people, including two of whom had been shot.

HPD said the suspect walked up to the vehicle and began shooting. The victims tried to speed away but lost control of the car, crashing a couple of houses down and striking the front of a home.

One victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, while the other was listed in stable condition.

No suspect description has been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
