Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 8 p.m. for northern counties

HOUSTON – Happening NOW until 8 PM, we have a severe thunderstorm watch for Shepherd, Livingston, Huntsville, Crockett, Navasota, and College Station.

Storms fire off across I-45

These storms could produce large hail (nickel-sized) damaging winds (over 65 mph), and a slight tornado risk.

Line of storms continues to push south into Harris County

Stay weather aware and be ready to take shelter if warnings are issued. We’re tracking a front lifting warm, moist Gulf air, which is sparking thunderstorms.

The worst of the storms begin to fall apart as the storms move southeast

Hail Safety Tip

Park cars under a garage or carport and if you don’t have one - cover your car with blankets or tarps to try to minimize damage.

Wind Safety Tips

Bring indoor items like patio, furniture and trash cans to prevent them from being dangerous projectiles during the storm.

Slight Tornado Risk

Make sure you and your family have your safe room in advance - like your bathroom, interior room without windows.
