In an Instagram post the day before announcing the lawsuit, Buzbee claims he is representing a “brave young woman who alleges she was brutally sexually assaulted by former NFL player Shannon Sharpe on multiple occasions, the last incident occurring in January 2025.”

The case seeks $50 million in damages. Sharpe has since responded with evidence that he claimed proves his innocence.

However, in a subsequent post on Tuesday, Buzbee fired back against Sharpe’s attorney’s claims about an edited sex tape, calling them “not only demonstrably false, but also desperate.”

Buzbee also shared an audio transcript between his client and Sharpe, where at one point he allegedly threatened to “choke the s---” out of her.

Around the same time as Buzbee’s post, Sharpe shared a video statement on X, reiterating his claims and saying within the first few seconds, “this is a shakedown.”

“Tony Buzbee targets Black men,” Sharpe added. “And I believe he is going to release a 30-second clip of a sex tape that tries to make me look guilty and play into every stereotype you could possibly imagine.”
