Barricaded suspect shoots at officers during standoff in Texas City

TEXAS CITY, Texas – A domestic violence incident overnight Monday has turned into a deadly standoff at a Texas City home.

It happened around 1 a.m. when police said they got a call from a child about family members fighting outside a home on 27th Avenue North near Galveston Bay.

Investigators said at least four to six shots were fired at responding officers as they arrived from inside the home. An unidentified woman inside the home got out and ran to police, who then took her to a hospital to have her injuries (non-life-threatening) treated.

The shooter, however, remained barricaded in the house, and Texas City PD and their crisis negotiators and SWAT teams were called to assist and tried reaching out to him, but to no avail.

SWAT officials later went inside the home and found the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No other people were found inside the home, and investigators confirmed there were no additional injuries reported in the area.
