Former Fort Bend ISD teacher arrested, accused of inappropriate relationship with student

A former Fort Bend ISD teacher is facing two felony charges after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a student at Ronald Thornton Middle School.

Kara Hernandez, who was arrested on Feb. 14, now faces charges of indecency with a child involving sexual contact and an improper relationship between an educator and a student. Her bond has been set at $50,000, $25,000 for each charge.

According to court documents, the offenses allegedly happened on or around April 1, 2022, while Hernandez was employed at Ronald Thornton Middle School. A grand jury indictment accuses her of intentionally engaging in sexual contact with a student enrolled at the school.

The case is being handled in the 434th District Court of Fort Bend County. Hernandez’s next court date is set for April 28.

KPRC 2 has contacted Fort Bend ISD for comment.
