La Marque man charged with felony assault after injured man stumbles into police station

A man is facing felony assault charges after police say he attacked someone who later showed up at the La Marque Police Department bleeding from the head.

Just before midnight on April 14, officers were alerted to an injured person who walked into the department’s lobby around 11:53 p.m. Police immediately rendered medical aid to the victim, who had suffered significant blunt force trauma to the back of the head and was bleeding heavily, according to investigators.

La Marque EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.

An investigation led officers to identify 54-year-old Shannon Bray as the suspect. Officers later found Bray at a home in the 500 block of Elmo Street, where he was taken into custody.

The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. Bray’s bond was set at $150,000.

The condition of the victim has not been released.
