2 violent murder suspects from different states arrested in Houston area

Two violent murder suspects from the northeast United States were taken into custody in the Houston area on Wednesday.

Justin Akines Harris and Jamel Ricks were arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.

Harris was wanted out of Pennsylvania, where he was listed as one of the state’s Top 10 Most Wanted fugitives in Philadelphia. His offenses include aggravated assault, simple assault, endangering welfare and murder dating back to 2022.

Harris was arrested in the 300 block of Woerner Street in Houston. He was booked into Harris County Jail and is awaiting extradition back to Pennsylvania.

Ricks was wanted out of Nassau County, New York. His charges included murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon, in connection to a 2022 shooting.

With the assistance of Fort Bend County Pct. 4 constables, Ricks was arrested in the 8900 block of Wistful Wind Drive in Richmond. He was taken to Fort Bend County Jail and is awaiting extradition to New York.
