Investigators said a motorcyclist swerved to avoid hitting the man’s SUV.

The motorcyclist and their passenger were thrown from the bike.

The passenger died at the scene.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital and was expected to recover.

Police said the driver of the SUV showed signs of intoxication.

“The driver of the vehicle was asleep behind the wheel,” said Sgt. Ramirez with the Houston Police Department. “The vehicle was in drive and the car was stopped in a moving lane of traffic, not leaving enough room for the motorcycle to travel in the same path.”
