HOUSTON – The Houston Cougars punched their ticket to the Final Four over the weekend and fans looking to make the journey are eager to secure their tickets. However, attending the games won’t come cheap.
Resale tickets, depending on the site or option you choose, will run you at least a few hundred bucks per ticket.
Despite the high prices, some fans believe this could be the year the Cougars win it all, making the expense worthwhile.
You can purchase tickets for the the semifinal games on Saturday, which includes both games: UH vs. Duke and Auburn vs. Florida or for those who are really confident in the Cougars, tickets for both Saturday’s semifinal games and Monday’s national championship are also available.
If you’re looking to just get into the building, the cheapest ticket for Saturday’s games will cost about $308 in Section 324. The best seats, as expected, are far more expensive, with Section 113 going for $5,900.
If you want to attend all three games, the lowest ticket price found was $474 for Section 325, all the way at the top. For comparison, the most expensive ticket found was $1,882.
Katarina Ramirez, a local fan, shared her thoughts on the ticket prices. “I personally don’t think I would consider it just because I know that basketball is not my main source of entertainment. I would try to see if the tickets go down the day of,” she said.
Not everyone is worried about the prices. Some fans view this as a bucket-list event. “Yeah, I just want to be there. I don’t really care. We can be in the back row as long as we can see the game live,” said Funsho Shadamoro, a student.
Others found great deals through the university. Caleb Villatoro explained, “I applied for a lottery for students only. I just put my name in the bracket, and they picked my name out.”
Villatoro paid $45 for his ticket, a stark contrast to the prices others are facing. “I was looking at SeatGeek and all those other services, and it was like $500 for the first game. That’s crazy,” he added.
